The Project Engineer develops, documents, and manages top level design requirements for new programs while acting as an ENGR liaison to both customers and production personnel.

Reports To: Manager of Systems Engineering

Duties:

  • Works with Marketing and Sales to develop and document design requirements
  • Works with all ENGR functional teams (electrical/optical/mechanical/software) to ensure that requirements are understood and addressed in designs
  • Works with Program Managers during development to ensure that customer requirements are being satisfied
  • As program advances, works with production to ensure smooth transition
  • During early production, works with test to help troubleshoot and streamline product flow
  • Act as liaison during certification process when necessary
  • Occasionally travel to customer sites to aid in initial installation

Skills:

  • Excellent writing skills with experience with Microsoft Word and Visio
  • Engineering management experience
  • Willingness to be hands-on when required
  • Able to troubleshoot multidiscipline designs (electrical/optical/mechanical/embedded software)
  • Experience with electronic HW, embedded programming, electro-optics, networking protocols, and electro-mechanical designs is highly desirable

Education and Experience: BSEE with 10-15 years of experience as engineer and manager
